Duke basketball enters fray for top-ranked point guard
In October, Lincoln Park (Pa.) point guard Meleek Thomas implied to Rivals' Krysten Peek that receiving an offer from the Duke basketball program would be a dream come true.
"Growing up, just watching Duke, it was like 'Duke, Duke, Duke,'" Thomas said then. "They always made it to the tournament. So that was probably my dream school coming up."
On Sunday, first-year Duke basketball head coach Jon Scheyer and his staff entered the fray for the 6-foot-4, 170-pound five-star after watching him play for NY Lightning at this weekend's Nike EYBL event near Atlanta.

Thomas, a slick playmaker and electric scorer who ranks No. 1 among point guards and No. 6 overall on the 247Sports 2025 Composite, announced the offer on Twitter.
Duke assistants Jai Lucas and Pennsylvania native Amile Jefferson each visited Thomas at his school in the fall. Since then, there hadn't been much chatter about the Blue Devils' interest. But it's now clear Scheyer at least hopes to land him after checking out his game for himself.
He holds roughly a dozen offers, including the one he picked up from reigning national champion UConn on Saturday, and has yet to name finalists in his recruitment.
It had been almost a year since the Blue Devils extended an offer to anyone in the 2025 class.
Meleek Thomas joins three others on Duke basketball's 2025 wishlist: five-star power forward Cooper Flagg, five-star power forward Cameron Boozer, and four-star combo guard Cayden Boozer.
