Duke Basketball: Five-Star Guard’s First Call Comes From Blue Devils
Thursday is the first day that college coaches may contact 2025 recruits directly. And it appears the Duke basketball staff wasted no time reaching out to one potential target among rising high school juniors, Fishers (Ind.) combo guard Jalen Haralson, a 6-foot-7, 205-pound five-star who ranks No. 9 on the 247Sports 2025 Composite.
Haralson told Stock Risers' Jake Weingarten that Duke was the first school to contact him. Weingarten tweeted this news at 12:10 a.m. ET, so one can assume the call from Durham occurred within minutes of the clock striking midnight, sending a message that the Blue Devils have significant interest in the versatile bucket-getter.
He confirmed as much in his tweet, noting that Duke basketball head coach Jon Scheyer and his assistants are "super high on Haralson" and that their potential pursuit of his services is one "to keep an eye on."
In May, Jalen Haralson informed Weingarten that Scheyer recently referred to him as "a priority" in his staff's 2025 recruiting efforts. They've been eyeing him since at least last September.
But despite the long-time interest and Thursday's oh-so-early contact, Haralson has not yet reported an offer from the Blue Devils. Perhaps that won't be the case much longer.
Duke basketball's 2025 offer sheet, producing neither a commitment nor rejection to date, currently consists of only four names.
It includes three five-star prospects ranking among the top 10: Christopher Columbus (Fla.) power forward Cameron Boozer, Montverde (Fla.) small forward Cooper Flagg, and Lincoln Park (Pa.) point guard Meleek Thomas. The other on the list is four-star combo guard Cayden Boozer, Cameron's twin brother and teammate.
