Duke Basketball Staff Lands Official Visit From Giant Target

A formidable big man will be on campus for a Duke basketball visit this weekend.

It seems imperative the Duke basketball staff snag a 2024 post player, seeing that Ryan Young's eligibility expires next season, plus the assumption that Kyle Filipowski will turn pro after his 2023-24 sophomore run. And for now, Paul VI Catholic (Va.) four-star Patrick Ngongba II is the only center the Blue Devils are targeting in the class.

Although the 6-foot-10, 235-pound imposing talent has been on Duke's wishlist for only a week, Jon Scheyer's pursuit of Ngongba appears to be heating up relatively quickly.

On Monday night, Ngongba told On3's Joe Tipton that he scheduled a two-day official visit with the Blue Devils beginning Saturday.

He's already taken official visits to Kansas State and Providence, and his calendar includes a trip to check out UConn next week. Virginia and Iowa are also likely to host him this summer.

No experts have entered predictions for Ngongba. Meanwhile, there's no word yet on a timeline for his decision.

He sits No. 63 overall on the 247Sports 2024 Composite but will likely climb the rankings soon due to his recent dominance for Team Takeover in Nike EYBL action.

The 2024 Duke basketball haul currently ranks No. 6 in the country, per 247Sports, with two commits: Paul VI Catholic four-star small forward Darren Harris, a teammate to Patrick Ngongba II for their school and on the grassroots circuit, along with North Meck (N.C.) five-star small forward Isaiah Evans.
