Duke Basketball Staff Showing Late Interest in Another Sharpshooter
Wisconsin Lutheran rising senior wing Kon Knueppel is now hearing from the Duke basketball coaches, according to a tweet on Sunday afternoon from 247Sports' Evan Flood.
Meanwhile, Flood noted that the 6-foot-6, 215-pound five-star, who has risen more than 50 spots across the past year to No. 21 overall on the 247Sports 2024 Composite, "plans to narrow his list down to 5-6 schools in the near future."
So if the Blue Devils hope to land on that list, one would think they'd need to enter the fray with an offer sooner rather than later.

The reported new interest out of Durham is easy to understand when watching Knueppel's picture-perfect shooting stroke and fundamentally sound moves.
On the other hand, some could see his appearance on Duke's radar at this stage as a tad surprising, given the program's commitments from two small forwards in the class. After all, Paul VI Catholic (Va.) four-star Darren Harris and North Meck (N.C.) five-star Isaiah Evans are among the premier 2024 sharpshooters along with Knueppel.
Perhaps it's as simple as second-year Duke basketball head coach Jon Scheyer being keen on stockpiling 3-point weapons.
Kon Knueppel boasts more than a dozen offers, including one from home-state favorite Wisconsin and a few from the ACC in Louisville, Miami, Notre Dame, and Virginia. He recently told On3's Jamie Shaw that he's eyeing a decision sometime before his senior season at Wisconsin Lutheran begins in the fall.
