Duke Basketball: Elite New York Prep Reveals Offer From Jon Scheyer
On Sunday night, Long Island Lutheran (N.Y.) shooting guard VJ Edgecombe tweeted that he is "blessed and grateful to receive an offer" from the Duke basketball staff. Last week, the Blue Devils were on hand at the NBPA Top 100 Camp in Orlando, Fla., and must have liked what they saw from the 6-foot-5, 180-pound five-star.

Edgecombe, who sits at No. 15 overall on the 247Sports 2024 Composite, has seen his stock soar and offers multiply in recent months. In March, he ranked only No. 153 in the class and held a mere three-star rating.
But as On3's Jamie Shaw explained after watching the long-limbed speedster get buckets in Orlando and naming him one of the event's top performers, VJ Edgecombe's advanced talents are apparent:
"VJ Edgecombe came out of the gates hot, going for 21 and 19 points in his first two games. You like the efficiency with which he plays. He does not do things he cannot do and limits his dribbles to make a play. Edgecombe is an explosive guard...He was injured during his third game, only finishing with five points in that one, but he was able to show different facets of his game in the first two games...He averaged 15.0 points and 4.7 rebounds while shooting 51.6 percent from the field in his three games."
As things stand, Edgecombe is one of only two undecided 2024 guards boasting a Duke basketball offer. The other is Don Bosco Prep (N.J.) five-star combo guard Dylan Harper, the son of five-time NBA champ Ron Harper who ranks No. 1 overall among his peers and has been at the center of the Blue Devils' radar for almost a year.

One could view head coach Jon Scheyer's pursuit of Edgecombe as a sign that he doesn't feel 100 percent confident about reeling in a commitment from Harper.
Duke's two commits from the 2024 class thus far are North Meck (N.C.) five-star small forward Isaiah Evans and Paul VI Catholic (Va.) four-star small forward Darren Harris.
