Duke Basketball: No. 1 Point Guard Sees Interest From Blue Devils
Considering the talent level at the top of the 2026 class, chances are second-year Duke basketball head coach Jon Scheyer and his staff begin handing out offers to a few of those top-tier high school sophomores in the coming months.

One candidate is St. John Bosco (Calif.) sensation Brandon McCoy, No. 3 overall and No. 1 among point guards on the recently debuted 247Sports 2026 Composite.
According to 247Sports' Eric Bossi, who watched McCoy shine at the Pangos All-West Frosh/Soph Camp in Long Beach over the weekend, the 6-foot-4, 170-pound five-star has "had Duke out to watch [him] this fall." That makes sense, given that Bossi noted in the following assessment that there may not be a better prep point guard right now:
"There's a strong argument to be made that he's the best floor general regardless of class. He's got a baby face, and he could pass for a player who is a year or two younger, but don't let that fool you because once the ball is in his hands, he's virtually unstoppable...Pushing 6-foot-4 with long arms, tremendous vision, and a great feel for the game, McCoy is an absolutely freaky athlete who explodes for towering jams in traffic, has stupendous quickness, and couples all of that with uncanny instincts on the defensive end."
Bossi then noted Derrick Rose and De'Aaron Fox as potential comparisons for Brandon McCoy, who already boasts offers from Arizona State, Louisville, UCLA, Rutgers, Michigan, Oregon, and more.
It'll likely be a while before McCoy makes any significant moves in his recruitment. But again, his name seems worth remembering when Duke basketball ramps up its efforts on the 2026 recruiting trail.
