Duke Basketball Recruiting Prize Addresses Decommitment Rumors
North Meck (N.C.) five-star forward Isaiah Evans announced his Duke basketball commitment in late April, two weeks after he visited the Blue Devils a second time (he was on an unofficial in late November, coinciding with Duke's home win over Ohio State).
In October, just a few weeks ago, he returned to Durham for another official visit. This time, he was alongside three prime 2024 Duke basketball targets and the then-two other pieces to Jon Scheyer's class: five-star forward Kon Knueppel and four-star wing Darren Harris.
Two of those then-targets on hand, top-ranked five-star forward Cooper Flagg and five-star big man Patrick Ngongba II, have since joined the Blue Devils' collection. And some insiders believe the third, five-star guard VJ Edgecombe, may follow suit shortly.
Despite the wealth of fellow 2024 Duke basketball pledges at or near his position, Isaiah Evans, No. 18 overall on the 247Sports 2024 Composite, has remained locked in on his Blue Devil future.
Even so, on Sunday morning, the 6-foot-6, 170-pound smooth bucket-getter became the subject of speculation after national recruiting insider "Trilly Donovan" suggested potential drama in Durham with the following "One of the stones is loose" post about Scheyer's now-five-deep 2024 haul:
Later in the day, Isaiah Evans shut down the chatter, at least regarding him being a "stone" in question, via his "I ain't goin no where" post:
It seemingly confirms his intention to suit up for the Blue Devils next year.
Isaiah Evans and the others can put their commitments in ink during the early signing period, which begins on Wednesday.
As with Evans, none of those other Blue Devil pledges have given any reason, at least not publicly, to believe they're anything but 100 percent committed to playing for Jon Scheyer and his crew.
The class ranks No. 1 in the country.
