Duke Basketball Prize Enjoys 30-Burger Before Lunch in Florida

No matter the time of day, it doesn't take long for future Duke basketball weapon Isaiah Evans to catch fire.

On Friday morning, at the City of Palms Classic in Fort Myers, Fla., Duke basketball signee Isaiah Evans delivered another 30-point outing to lead North Meck (N.C.) to a 70-62 win over Millennium (Ariz.) in their consolation semifinal matchup.

Evans, a 6-foot-6, 170-pound five-star wing who committed to the Blue Devils in April and put it in ink during the early signing period in November, was the only player in the game to play all 32 minutes. He shot 11-for-23 from the field, 5-for-12 from three, and 3-for-3 at the line.

However, Evans didn't limit his performance to the offensive end of the floor. No, the slick talent, sitting No. 13 overall on the 247Sports 2024 Composite, recorded three steals and two blocks. Plus, he was only two rebounds shy of posting a 30-10 double-double.

But make no mistake about it: Isaiah Evans' specialty is as a bucket-getter. After all, just two weeks ago, he drained 10 threes in a game, finishing with 36 points. And back in March, the Charlotte native tallied 62 points in a playoff contest.

He and North Meck next face McEachern (Ga.) for the consolation championship in Fort Myers at 2:30 p.m. ET Saturday.

Meanwhile, two other members of the five-deep 2024 Duke basketball recruiting class, Montverde (Fla.) five-star forward Cooper Flagg and Paul VI (Va.) four-star sharpshooter Darren Harris, are set to square off at 7 p.m. Friday when their teams meet for a semifinal bout in the winners' bracket.
