On Sunday afternoon in the championship bout, the 6-foot-6, 195-pound sharpshooting small forward out of Paul VI Catholic (Va.) set the tone for his Team Takeover in their 76-61 win over Vegas Elite, wrapping up Peach Jam with an 8-0 record and giving the powerhouse its third title at the prestigious event since 2010.
In the first half alone, Harris tallied 23 points while shooting 8-for-10 from the field and 4-for-4 beyond the arc. He finished with a game-high 28 points and a 5-for-7 clip from downtown, including a deep three in the fourth quarter to put the opponent to sleep.
He added four rebounds and four assists on his way to becoming the 2023 Peach Jam MVP.
For now, Darren Harris boasts only a four-star rating and ranks No. 66 overall on the 247Sports 2024 Composite, down 13 spots from when he announced his commitment to Duke basketball head coach Jon Scheyer and the Blue Devils in late October.
Look for Harris' ranking to soon rise back to where it belongs, potentially into the top 50 and approaching five-star status.
Duke's other early 2024 commit is North Meck (N.C.) five-star Isaiah Evans, a 6-foot-8, 185-pound smooth small forward who ranks No. 18 overall in the class and pledged his allegiance to the Blue Devils in late April.
