Duke basketball's Countdown to Craziness, an official introduction to the 2023-24 Blue Devils that features a Blue-White intrasquad scrimmage at 8:30 p.m. ET Friday (ACCNX), is always a significant recruiting tool. This year is no different.

Second-year head coach Jon Scheyer's three early 2024 pledges will be on hand as they look to soak in the Duke basketball experience one last time before the early signing period in November (latest 247Sports 2024 Composite rankings in parentheses):

  • Paul VI Catholic (Va.) four-star small forward Darren Harris (No. 60)
  • Wisconsin Lutheran five-star small forward Kon Knueppel (No. 15)
  • North Meck (N.C.) five-star small forward Isaiah Evans (No. 18)

The list of visitors also includes three of the Blue Devils' 2024 targets. All three are on official visits at Duke this weekend:

  • Montverde Academy (Fla.) five-star small forward Cooper Flagg
  • Long Island Lutheran (N.Y.) five-star shooting guard VJ Edgecombe
  • Paul VI Catholic five-star center Patrick Ngongba II

Ngongba, who ranks No. 25 overall in the class and is down to eight finalists (Duke, Kansas, Indiana, Providence, Kansas State, UConn, Michigan, Kentucky), plans to decide on a winner in his recruitment soon after he completes his slate of official visits. His last stop is at Kansas State next weekend.

Like Ngongba, Flagg, the nation's top-ranked 2024 prospect, will likely announce his decision soon. His only two official visits were to UConn in September and Duke this weekend.

As for Edgecombe, boasting a No. 6 composite ranking, he appears more likely to wait until spring to see how rosters shake out before ending his recruitment.
