Duke Basketball Recruiting: Top-Ranked Point Guard Cuts His List

Duke basketball has advanced one more step for an electric scorer who grew up a Blue Devil fan.

Roughly six months before receiving a Duke basketball offer in April, Lincoln Park (Pa.) point guard Meleek Thomas made known his fondness for the Blue Devils.

"Growing up, just watching Duke, it was like 'Duke, Duke, Duke,'" the 6-foot-3, 170-pound five-star, now No. 6 overall on the 247Sports 2025 Composite and arguably the premier floor general in the class, explained to Rivals' Krysten Peek in October. "They always made it to the tournament.

"So that was probably my dream school coming up."

On that note, it should be no surprise that second-year Duke basketball head coach Jon Scheyer and his staff have landed among the explosive backcourt weapon's top 12 suitors.

Thomas, who holds over 20 offers, revealed the list via social media on Friday evening. And the Blue Devils are not the only heavy hitters.

Duke's remaining competition consists of Auburn, Indiana, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, Miami, Michigan, Pitt, Tennessee, UConn, and Villanova. That amounts to several bluebloods and recent national champions alike.

Thus far, Meleek Thomas has announced only two official visits for his junior year: to Michigan next weekend and Auburn at the end of this month.

Although his list cut was hardly dramatic, it is worth pointing out that he's the first of the currently eight 2025 Duke basketball targets to put out such a list of any length.

In other words, none of the juniors on the Blue Devil wishlist — only one isn't a composite five-star — have committed to Scheyer and his gang or eliminated them from contention.
