Future Duke Basketball Forward Anchors Record-Breaking Victory
On Day 1 of the talent-loaded City of Palms Classic in Fort Myers, Fla., Duke basketball signee Cooper Flagg and his top-ranked Montverde Academy (Fla.) team almost doubled their opponents' scoring total, notching a 110-57 win over Cannon School (N.C.).

The Monday night victory marked the highest-scoring game by any team in the 23 years of the prestigious event.
And Flagg, a 6-foot-9, 200-pound five-star forward who sits atop the 247Sports 2024 Composite, led all scorers with his efficient 22-point performance. In doing so, he earned the "Player of the Game" distinction from the City of Palms Classic account:
Flagg shot 10-for-14 from the field and 2-for-4 beyond the arc. Plus, he recorded seven rebounds, five assists, one steal, and three blocks. Across only 20 minutes on the floor, he logged a game-high plus/minus of +46.
On3's Joe Tipton ranked the future Blue Devil's versatile show as the best by any playerΒ on Monday:
"Cooper Flagg showed why he's the No. 1 ranked player in the senior class...[He] does it all for his Montverde squad. He can run the offense when needed, score at will, crashes the boards and defends at an extremely high level."
Montverde's next game is against Archbishop Stepinac (N.Y.) at 5:15 p.m. ET Thursday in the quarterfinals of the 2023 Traditional Bracket. The tournament wraps up with the championship battle on Saturday night.
