New Name to Know on Duke Basketball's Recruiting Radar
Hailing from the Netherlands, Dwayne Aristode landed in America this summer to attend prep powerhouse Brewster Academy (N.H.). And the 6-foot-7, 195-pound junior swingman is already attracting Duke basketball's attention, MADE Hoops' Max Feldman reported on Tuesday.
The Blue Devils are one of eight programs Aristode has heard from since his arrival, along with Alabama, Boston College, Michigan State, Santa Clara, UCLA, UConn, and Xavier.
Feldman refers to him as a top-50 wing in the 2025 class, suggesting he's in line for at least a four-star rating. However, Aristode does not appear on most sites' rankings in the States since he's been on this side of the pond only a few months.
Aristode's breakout on the European scene came at the 2022 FIBA U16 European Championship, where he averaged 15.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.0 steals, and 1.3 blocks for the Netherlands while shooting 37.5 percent from downtown as a high-volume 3-point threat (9.1 attempts per game).
Note the above numbers came for a Netherlands squad that finished second-to-last in the 16-team standings. Nevertheless, Aristode looks like a prototypical 3-and-D talent with five-star potential:
Duke basketball's 2025 wishlist hasn't yet produced a commitment. It's down to seven names since five-star small forward Cooper Flagg's announced move to the 2024 class last week.
That list of high school juniors holding offers from Duke consists of guards, power forwards, and a newly offered center. So perhaps in the fall, Dwayne Aristode will emerge as a prime 2025 Blue Devil target on the wing.
