Potential Five-Star Recruit Hears From Duke Basketball Staff 'A Lot'

Duke basketball recruiting prospect Nate Ament sounds excited about an upcoming trip to Durham.

Highland (Va.) small forward Nate Ament isn't on the 2025 Duke basketball wishlist. Not yet, anyway.

But there's reason to think the 6-foot-8, 200-pound four-star, who sits at No. 26 overall on the 247Sports 2025 Composite despite being unranked and unrated there when summer began, could be the next in his class to land an offer from the Blue Devils.

Ament will be in Durham for an unofficial visit the weekend of Sept. 16. That alone indicates at least some level of mutual interest.

And in his recent chat with Rivals' Rob Cassidy, who referred to the long-limbed bucket-getter as "one of the breakout performers of the spring camp circuit," he seemed to put the Duke basketball staff before any other when listing the schools he hears from the most.

"I'm hearing from Duke a lot," he told Cassidy. "Then LSU, Virginia, and Indiana."

Furthermore, he suggested that contact from the Blue Devils has been frequent for months.

"I've been talking to the coaches for a while now," Nate Ament explained to Cassidy, "so I'm looking forward to getting there and seeing it...I just want to see how the players respond to the coaches and all that stuff. I want to see how they run the offense. They have a really free-moving offense...I feel like I play best in that kind of offense."

He's slated to be at Duke alongside another potential 2025 Blue Devil offer recipient in four-star power forward Nikola Bundalo, plus two five-star 2024 targets: small forwards Tyler Betsey and Kon Knueppel.

Duke basketball's 2025 offer sheet consists of eight names, thus far outputting neither a commitment nor a rejection for the Blue Devils at this relatively early juncture in the cycle.
