Son of Duke Basketball Champ Suddenly Loses No. 1 Ranking

Duke basketball target Cameron Boozer fell to No. 2 in the 2025 class.

On Wednesday, Prolific Prep (Calif.) small forward and Duke basketball recruiting prospect AJ Dybantsa announced his reclassification from 2026 to 2025.

In doing so, the 6-foot-9, 200-pound five-star, who has recently seen coaches from Durham at his school, went from No. 1 among high school sophomores to the same position among juniors.

Therefore, Dybantsa's move dropped all seven Blue Devil targets in the class down a notch on the 247Sports 2025 Composite, including the former No. 1 in Christopher Columbus High School (Fla.) five-star power forward Cameron Boozer.

Cameron Boozer, son of 2001 Duke basketball national champion and two-time NBA All-Star power forward Carlos Boozer, now sits at No. 2. He had held the top spot since the rankings' debut last year.

Meanwhile, Cameron Boozer's twin and teammate, five-star combo guard Cayden Boozer, now boasts a No. 18 composite ranking. The brothers have been on the Blue Devils' official 2025 wishlist since May 2022.

The other five 2025 talents holding an offer from Duke basketball head coach Jon Scheyer are five-star power forward Koa Peat (No. 4), five-star power forward Caleb Wilson (No. 5), five-star combo guard Meleek Thomas (No. 6), four-star small forward Nate Ament (No. 25), and four-star shooting guard Brayden Burries (No. 31).

None of those targets have committed to the Blue Devils or eliminated them from contention.

Again, Duke has shown interest in the new No. 1, Dybantsa, but we'll have to wait and see if Scheyer and his crew officially enter the fray for his services.
