Trio of Future Duke Basketball Players Earns Prestigious Honor
Duke basketball signees comprise 25 percent of the USA team roster for the annual Nike Hoop Summit in Portland, Ore., on April 13, pitting the top American prep hoopsters against the world's best. And the three future Blue Devils who made the cut account for 60 percent of head coach Jon Scheyer's five-deep, top-ranked 2024 haul.
Obviously, one of those three is Montverde Academy (Fla.) five-star forward Cooper Flagg, No. 1 overall on the 247Sports 2024 Composite. He joins Paul VI Catholic (Va.) five-star center Patrick Ngongba, No. 22 in the class, and North Meck (N.C.) five-star forward Isaiah Evans, No. 13.

Paul VI four-star forward Darren Harris, the lowest-ranked 2024 Blue Devil at No. 57 overall, and Wisconsin Lutheran five-star forward Kon Knueppel, No. 16, are the two early Duke prizes who did not receive a spot on the USA roster.
Rutgers and Kentucky put two future players apiece on the team. Outside of Duke's trio, five-star UNC signee Ian Jackson is the only ACC recruit on tap.
The World team has yet to release its roster for the showcase. But chances are a Bahamian 2024 Duke basketball target, Long Island Lutheran (N.Y.) five-star guard VJ Edgecombe, boasting a No. 5 composite ranking, will be among that bunch.
As for the only other undecided 2024 talent on the Blue Devils' wishlist, NBA Academy Africa five-star center Khaman Maluach, absent from rankings due to not attending high school in America, also looks like a prime candidate to represent the World squad.
