Hampton finished last season 5-6 (3-5 CAA) in head coach Robert Prunty's sixth season with the Pirates. The Pirates are looking to make their first appearance in the FCS Playoffs since 2006, which is the last season that Hampton won a Black College National Championship.

Hampton's 2024 schedule features three out-of-conference FCS matchups, a Division II game against Virginia Union, and eight CAA conference matchups.
