South Carolina State finished last season 5-6 (3-2 MEAC) as head coach Buddy Pough announced his retirement after 22 seasons with the Bulldogs. Former Benedict head coach Chennis Berry will step into the head coaching role at South Carolina State after back-to-back conference titles with the Tigers.

South Carolina State's 2024 schedule features an FBS matchup against Georgia Southern, four FCS out-of-conference games, one Division II opponent, and five MEAC conference matchups.
