FCS All-American DB Kaleb Lyons Signs With Eastern Illinois
Former Morehead State defensive Kaleb Lyons has officially signed with Eastern Illinois. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound defensive back will have two seasons of eligibility remaining for the Panthers.
Lyons saw action in 21 games over his two seasons at Morehead State. He earned third-team AP FCS All-American honors last season after leading the nation in interceptions during the regular season. He is only the third Morehead State player to earn AP All-American honors.
Lyons finished the season with 34 total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one sack, six interceptions, and nine pass breakups. He set the Pioneer League and Morehead State record with three interceptions against Davidson last season. He will join a defense that led the Big South-OVC in scoring defense (19.7 PPG Allowed) and forced 14 interceptions last season.
All-Conference RB Devin Nelson Signs With Indiana State
Former Tiffin running back Devin Nelson officially signs with Indiana State. He will have one season of eligibility remaining for the Sycamores.
Nelson is a three-time All-Conference selection over four seasons at Tiffin. He led the Dragons with 804 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns last season in only nine games. He rushed for a career-high 155 yards and two touchdowns against McKendree in the season-opener.
Over his four seasons, Nelson recorded 1,796 rushing yards, 17 rushing touchdowns, 341 receiving yards, and averaged 5.7 yards per carry. He signed with Tiffin out of Huber Heights, Ohio in the class of 2020. He earned first-team All-GWOC honors as a senior at Wayne High School.
Former South Dakota RB Nate Thomas Transfers To Idaho
Former South Dakota running back Nate Thomas transfers to Idaho after three seasons with the Coyotes. He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining for the Vandals.
Thomas had a breakout true freshman season in 2021, being named to the MVFC All-Newcomer Team after leading South Dakota in rushing yards per game. He missed the 2022 season due to injury but saw action in 10 games last season for the Coyotes. Over his two full seasons at South Dakota, Thomas recorded 1,115 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns.
The 5-foot-9, 205-pound running back signed with South Dakota out of South Holland, Illinois. He was named the Offensive Player of the Year honors as a junior after rushing for 1,754 yards and 26 touchdowns. He earned 7A All-State honors as a senior at Thornwood High School.
Murray State OL Misan Sisk Commits To Mississippi Valley State
Former Murray State offensive lineman Misan Sisk announced his commitment to Mississippi Valley State on Jan. 19. He will have four seasons of eligibility remaining for the Delta Devils.
Sisk spent one season with the Racers and redshirted as a true freshman last season. The 6-foot-6, 290-pound offensive lineman signed with Murray State out of Memphis, Tennessee.
Sisk earned All-Region honors in back-to-back seasons and led MASE High School to the Tennessee Class 1A state semifinals. He is expected to compete for the starting offensive tackle spot for this upcoming season at Mississippi Valley State.
