Mercer head coach Drew Cronic has resigned after four seasons with the Bears. He is expected to be named the offensive coordinator at Navy for next season.

Over his four seasons, Cronic is 28-17 and led Mercer to the first FCS Playoff appearance in school history. The Bears also set the school record for wins in a season after defeating Gardner-Webb in the first round of the FCS Playoffs.

Before his stint at Mercer, Cronic led Lenior-Rhyne to back-to-back appearances in the semifinals of the NCAA Division II playoffs. He compiled a 25-3 record and led the Bears to two conference championships. He was named the 2018 AFCA NCAA Division II Coach of the Year.

He also led Reinhardt to a 13-1 record and an appearance in the NAIA National Championship game. He was 22-3 over two seasons as the head of the Eagles. Over his eight years as a head coach in college football, Cronic is 75-23 with five playoff appearances across three different subdivisions.
