North Dakota State Head Coach Matt Entz Accepts Assistant Coaching Position At USC
North Dakota State head coach Matt Entz will accept an assistant coaching position at USC under head coach Lincoln Riley. Entz is expected to serve as the linebackers coach, first reported by Logan Campbell of WDAY-TV in Fargo.
Entz is 60-10 over five seasons with the Bison and is currently leading North Dakota State on another impressive run through the FCS Playoffs. The Bison are scheduled to face No. 2 Montana in the semifinals of the FCS Playoffs on Saturday.
Entz has won two FCS national championships with the Bison and made three appearances in the championship game. He has been named the MVFC Coach of the Year and AFCA FCS Coach of the Year twice (2019, 2021).
USC recently hired UCLA defensive coordinator D'Anton Lynn to replace Alex Grinch. The Trojans have struggled defensively over the past two seasons and have made multiple staff changes this offseason.
Entz will continue coaching the Bison throughout the postseason and resign at the end of the season. The university announced that the search for the next head football coach will begin immediately.
