Stony Brook Fires Head Coach Chuck Priore After 18 Seasons
Stony Brook announced that head coach Chuck Priore will not return as the head coach next season. Offensive coordinator Andrew Dresner will serve as interim head coach.
Priore is 97-101 over 18 seasons as the head coach for the Seawolves. The Seawolves are 0-10 this season, including a 38-20 loss to UAlbany this past weekend.
Stony Brook won a share of the Big South championships in four consecutive seasons from 2009-12. Priore led the Seawolves to four FCS Playoff appearances, including the first postseason victory in school history in 2011. Under Priore, Stony Brook defeated an FBS opponent (Army, 2012) for the first time in school history.
Priore was named the Big South Coach of the Year twice (2009, 2011) and was a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Award in back-to-back seasons (2011-12). He was named the AFCA Regional Coach of the Year in 2012 after leading Stony Brook to a 10-3 record and a Top-15 finish in both national polls.
