Utah Tech Fires Head Coach Paul Peterson After Five Seasons
After five seasons, Utah Tech announced that head coach Paul Peterson has been relieved of his duties. The university also announced that Peterson will be reassigned within the athletic department.
"I want to thank Paul for his hard work on behalf of our football program and our student-athletes over the past five years," Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Ken Beazer said. "I look forward to Paul continuing to contribute to our athletics program in our progression toward full NCAA Division I status."
Peterson is 17-32 over his five seasons with the Trailblazers, including a 2-9 record this season. He led the program through the transition to Division I and compiled a 9-29 record throughout the transition to the FCS level.
He was hired after two successful seasons at Snow College, going 18-4 with two postseason appearances with the Badgers. Peterson also had stints as an assistant coach at Sacramento State and Southern Utah.
