Gators PF Target Sammie Yeanay Locks in Official Visit to Florida

As the Gators continue their search to bolster the frontcourt, power forward Sammie Yeanay locks in an official visit to Florida.

Sammie Yeanay, a 6-foot-7, 230-pound forward in the 2024 recruiting class, locked in his dates for an official visit to the University of Florida on Tuesday morning.

The Gainesville native, now residing in Arizona, shared his intentions to visit the Gators from Oct. 5-8 with On3 Sports’ Joe Tipton. The four-star wing has long been tied to UF dating back to his offer in July 2022, just 13 days after his first unofficial visit to campus under the current staff.

Yeanay was a frequent visitor during Florida’s home games during the 2022-23 campaign while attending The Rock High School.

He’s since transferred to Compass Prep in Chandler, Ariz., for his senior season, but will make the trek back to the University of Florida in October to get one last in-depth look at the program Todd Golden and Co. are building.

The Gators are looking to equip its backcourt with viable depth for the future in the 2024 class after losing out on big man John Bol after a 20-day commitment.

Yeanay’s former prep teammate, Ryan Jones Jr., rests atop the list of desired targets for Florida to add alongside guard Isaiah Brown. Small forward VJ Edgecombe sits as another prospect on Florida’s radar as they look to close the cycle strong before the 2023-24 season commences in early November.

Yeanay is another piece to that puzzle, with Florida seemingly in the driver’s seat to earn his services at this time.
