Graduate transfer BJ Mack is down to 10 schools in his transfer portal recruitment, releasing his top list on social media on Tuesday.

Mack originally teased an announcement via his Twitter on Sunday afternoon, and while many expected a quick commitment from the highly touted big man, he merely trimmed an extensive list of interested programs to proceed forward in his process.

The Gators remained in contention alongside Arkansas, Butler, Iowa, LSU, Michigan, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Xavier.

The Charlotte (N.C.) native was one of the first players the Gators staff reached out to in their initial search of the portal market for this offseason, alongside Harvard’s Chris Ledlum.

Todd Golden and Co. recently went on an in-home visit with Mack, impressing enough to continue as a team in the running.

His 16.6 points on 49.2% from the field, 5.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game while serving as Wofford’s center in 2022-23 creates immediate intrigue for team’s in need of a dominant scorer down low.

Entering the portal soon after Wofford’s season came to a close, Golden and Co. made quick work to contact him in hopes of luring him to Gainesville — doing so just prior to their SEC Tournament bout with Mississippi State — as the program looks to retool the roster after a sluggish first year of the new regime.

While Mack doesn’t present much as an interior rim projector on the defensive end (0.4 blocks per game over his career), something Florida will need after the departures of Colin Castleton and Jason Jitoboh, his bullying offensive style brings opportunity to maintain a consistent scoring presence in the frontcourt next season.

While the majority of his production comes inside, he sports stretch forward abilities to knock down three-point shots with consistency.

He drained 33.5% of his attempts from beyond the arc a season ago, while also proving to be an anomaly for big men in the collegiate game as he produced from the charity stripe, shooting above 80% as a senior for the Terriers.

As a result, standing at 6-foot-8, 245 pounds, Florida will likely target him to align as a four while bringing in a taller prospect (or two) to occupy duties at the five.

His ability to spread the floor and impressive scoring metrics are the reason for the considerable attention he’s received since entering the transfer portal.

His skillset is perfect to occupy the four in the SEC, and provide a valuable asset to Florida team amid reinvention efforts.

There is no date set for his commitment at this time. However, as Mack mulls over his eventual decision, he will remain a priority target for the Gators.
