Florida is set for an early-season test in the 2023-24 basketball campaign as it will take on the Virginia Cavaliers on Nov. 10.

The matchup between the two national championship-winning programs will be held at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte (N.C.) as part of a tripleheader in the Hall of Fame Series. The night also features bouts between Virginia Tech and South Carolina, as well as Charlotte and Liberty.

"Big-time games like this are part of why we love being at Florida, and we're excited to play in front of all the great Gators in Charlotte again," Todd Golden said via a press release from the University on Wednesday. "It provides an opportunity for us as competitors to match up against a program we have a lot of respect for, and we appreciate the Basketball Hall of Fame's effort in organizing and hosting this event."

The Gators' trip to Charlotte will be the first of two during the out-of-conference slate to open 2023-24. They'll travel back to the Spectrum Center nearly a month later to face Michigan in the Jumpman Invitational on Dec. 19.

A drastically reconstructed roster will highlight the storylines for Florida early in the season as nine new faces appear in the lineup. Zyon Pullin, Walter Clayton Jr., Julian Rishwain, EJ Jarvis, Tyrese Samuel and Micah Handlogten — possessing varying skillsets in the backcourt and frontcourt with hopes of producing complete gameplay unlike year one under Golden — notably join returning starters Riley Kugel and Will Richard for the Gators to deploy at Golden's disposal.

As the daunting task awaits, the bunch will look to mesh quickly during the offseason regimen.

The battle with Virginia to open the year will serve as a litmus test for Golden and Co.'s year two squad amid rising expectations.
