Florida announced the signing of NBA Global Academy forward/center Alex Condon on Wednesday, welcoming the second member of the Gators' 2023 recruiting class.

UF previously signed Pennsburg (Pa.) Perkiomen School 2023 forward Thomas Haugh in Nov. 2022.

Condon, a native of Perth, Australia, committed to the Gators on Feb. 2, the day after Florida upset No. 2 Tennessee at home by a score of 67-54. He officially visited the program a few weeks prior in January.

“We are extremely excited to welcome Alex into our program here at Florida,” Golden said in a Wednesday statement. “Alex comes from the Centre of Excellence program in Australia, which has a great track record of producing top Australian talent like Andrew Bogut, Joe Ingles, and a few of my former college teammates including Patty Mills

"He’s a great athlete and competitor, and will lift the competitive spirit within our program. We are excited to see how he impacts the team moving forward.”

Condon will serve as a high-upside piece in the Florida frontcourt upon his arrival to campus, possessing strengths as a rebounder and defender that will carry over to the next level. In addition, he continues to grow in his skillset offensively, benefitting from his nimbleness to run the floor well at 6-foot-10, 230 pounds.

While he will need to continue putting weight on his frame and work to expand his arsenal of post-moves to be adequately equipped for SEC play, those areas for growth — under proper guidance — are mendable.

That's why Golden and Co. believe Condon's ceiling projects as a multi-year starter at UF with NBA potential once he adjusts to the new style of play.

Florida also recently announced the transfer portal acquisitions of forward EJ Jarvis, center Micah Handlogten and guard Walter Clayton Jr.

After losing eight players following the 2022-23 season, Florida has filled five spots on the roster, with the frontcourt being an evident focal point at this stage in their talent acquisition process.
