The recruiting trail never sleeps.

Ryan Jones Jr., freshly removed from an unofficial trip to the University of Florida on June 15, has scheduled to officially visit the Gators Sept. 15-17, he told 24/7 High School Hoops on Saturday.

The Rock School (Gainesville, Fla.) product is ranked as the No. 8 center and No. 52 overall player in the 2024 recruiting cycle.

The news of Jones’ impending stay one month before the 2023-24 season commended continues the promising headway head coach Todd Golden has made on the trail in recent months. Bringing in the nation’s top-ranked transfer class and adding two top-130 2024 prospects to this stage, Florida’s trajectory has quickly skyrocketed upward pertaining the present and future.

Jones, the latest recruit to emerge as a target to the public eye, is a top contender to fill a spot in the uber-important front court under the current regime.

Standing at 6-foot-8, 225 pounds, Jones presents the frame and skillset to occupy a hybrid wing role at the next level — with varying responsibilities. His wingspan and athleticism contribute to his billing as a plus-defender who can hold his own against any position he’s matches up against, as well as his versatility as a scorer.

Currently, the Gators commitment class consists of five-star big man John Bol — who will become Jones’ high school teammate as he transfers to The Rock School for his senior year, Samad Hines reports — and shooting guard prospect Isaiah Brown.

However, Florida is far from finished adding talent to the next batch of incoming freshmen, exemplified by the staff’s pursuit of Jones. He joins Kokomo (Ind.) forward Flory Bidunga as priority targets moving into the closing stretch of the cycle.
