It was ugly, but it'll do.

The second half of Florida's game against the Miami Hurricanes will get talked about quite a bit. The trend of the game and especially in the second half? Mistakes.

Florida's first drive of half No. 2 got Van Jefferson his first catch of the game, a 14-yard reception. The next play, The Gators enjoyed a pass interference call to put them inside the 50-yard line. However, the rest of the drive was abysmal and resulted in another Tommy Townsend punt.

That punt once again, fielded by Jefferson, placed Miami inside its own 10-yard line. A three-and-out for Miami found them giving it right back. A terrible punt by Louis Hedley found the Gators at Miami's 42-yard line before the drive even began.

Already 1-for-6 on third down conversions, UF continued the trend and failed to convert. However, it continued another trend the very next play, making a perfect 3-3 on fourth down 4-4.

Franks found Kyle Pitts for 18 yards the next play to place UF at Miami's 9-yard line. An awful stretch of three plays found the Gators kicking a chip-shot field goal, nailed by Evan McPherson.

A Miami stall and a Florida stall later, one of the biggest plays of the game happened. Jefferson made the play, but not at wide receiver. Jeff Thomas dropped the punt return and Jefferson fell on it quicker than the news of Andrew Luck retiring broke out.

Two plays later, Franks found Perine who dove into the end zone, putting the Gators back up, 17-13.

Miami got the ball back to start the final quarter and took it right down the field. Deejay Dallas continued an incredible day, capping a 50-yard run with a touchdown, putting the 'Canes back up 20-17.

Franks on the next drive threw an abysmal pass to a wide-open Freddie Swain. The ball went over Swain's head, as he tipped it and it fell into the hands of Miami safety Amari Carter.

Three plays later, Miami ran a fake field goal. The play earned a first down but a holding call by Miami's Will Mallory should have nullified the gain. However, a late hit by James Houston after the play evened out the penalty, giving Miami an automatic first down.

Even still, three plays later the Hurricanes still were not in the end zone and Bubba Baxos lined up for another kick, for real this time. Baxos missed the kick and bailed the Gators out of a rough situation.

The Gators took full advantage the next play. A beautiful throw from Franks to Josh Hammond found the offense inside Miami's 20. Three plays later Franks leaped into the endzone for the fifth lead change of the game, making it 24-20.

Then, complete chaos.

After a few possessions of nothing, Franks threw an atrocious interception and gave the Hurricanes the ball right back. However, Miami could not have done less with it, losing 24 yards.

But a last-second gasp on 4th and 34 ended in a pass interference from Marco Wilson, giving Miami an automatic first down and keeping the 'Canes alive. Later on 3rd and 12, the same thing. Trey Dean got called for interference and gave Miami yet again an automatic first down.

Finally, two clean pass breakups late and a quarterback hurry on 4th down later, Miami was off the field and the Gators were victorious.

Franks took the snap and took a knee. He handed the ball to the referee and raised his arms in celebration as Lucas Krull jumped up beside him. In an ugly game that featured tons of mind-numbing mistakes, Florida won their first game against Miami in over ten years.
