Florida Falls to No. 11 in College Football Playoff Rankings

A long-shot for the playoffs, Florida remains the highest two-loss team in the poll, but fell as the undefeated Minnesota Gophers rose.

Despite a shutout victory at home this past weekend over Vanderbilt, the College Football Playoff rankings committee isn't feeling the love on the two-loss Florida Gators.

Florida (8-2, 5-2 SEC) dropped a spot from No. 10 to No. 11 in the weekly rankings as the 2019 College Football Playoff inches closer.

Following Minnesota's (9-0, 6-0 Big 10) upset victory over Penn State (8-1, 5-1 Big 10), the Gophers jumped the Gators in the rankings as they moved up to No. 8. Penn State fell from the fourth spot to No. 9.

Florida is one of five SEC teams - No. 1 LSU (9-0, 5-0 SEC), No. 4 Georgia (8-1, 5-1 SEC), No. 5 Alabama (8-1, 5-1 SEC), and No. 12 Auburn (7-2, 4-2 SEC) to be included on the list.

The Gators travel to Columbia, Missouri this week to face SEC foe, the Missouri Tigers (5-4, 2-3 SEC). Their Playoff hopes are all but out the window at this point as a two-loss team, but Dan Mullen will have his squad fighting for a New Year's Six Bowl Game appearance.
