Florida cornerback Jaydon Hill entered the NCAA transfer portal as a graduate student on Friday, according to 247Sports, following five seasons with the Gators.
Hill started at multiple positions in the Gators' secondary between the 2020-23 seasons, most recently occupying the STAR nickel cornerback position of coordinator Austin Armstrong's defense in 2023.
It was in this role that Hill arguably blossomed, setting single-season personal highs with 39 total tackles, two sacks and four tackles for loss in 12 games. He broke up four passes and recovered a fumble for the second year in a row, after doing so in nine appearances at outside cornerback in 2022, a season in which he recorded two interceptions.
Hill made five starts outside as a sophomore in 2020 and tallied seven pass deflections, before missing the 2021 campaign with a torn ACL, the second such injury of his career, following one to his opposite knee during his time at Madison (Ala.) Bob Jones High School.
In his five-year Gators career, Hill produced 88 tackles including five for loss, 2.5 sacks, two interceptions, 18 pass breakups and two fumble recoveries.
With Hill looking to finish his college career elsewhere, paired with the in-season departure of nickel corner Jadarrius Perkins, Florida will likely turn to rising sophomore Sharif Denson to fulfill the STAR position in 2024. Denson was recruited to play the spot specifically and recorded seven tackles during his freshman year.
Hill is the 19th scholarship member of Florida's 2023 roster to enter the transfer portal this offseason, and the second starter from last season to do so in the past 24 hours, following guard Micah Mazzccua. Find Florida's full list of transfer departures here.
