Former Florida quarterback Jalen Kitna entered the NCAA transfer portal on Monday morning, according to On3 Sports.

The Gators dismissed Kitna and removed his name from the team's roster on Dec. 2, 2022, two days following his Nov. 30 arrest on five charges relating to the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material, which was uncovered in an investigation by the Gainesville Police Department following a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Kitna was banned from UF's campus following the announcement of multiple felony charges until Nov. 2025 and took classes online through the 2023 spring semester, after posting an $80,000 bond on Dec. 1.

“We are shocked and saddened to hear of the news involving Jalen Kitna," UF's University Athletic Association said in a statement on the day of his arrest. "These are extremely serious charges and the University of Florida and the UAA have zero tolerance for such behavior."

Kitna's charges were dropped on July 5, 2023, however, as reported by the Orlando Sentinel. In a plea deal with the State Attorney’s Office for the Eighth Judicial Circuit in Alachua County, Kitna was instead charged with two counts of disorderly conduct, which is considered a second-degree misdemeanor.

Kitna will not serve jail time or be required to register as a sex offender as a part of the agreement. He was sentenced to two six-month probation terms, although the second period could be dismissed if he follows the terms of the deal.

Following the settling of his case, Kitna has turned his attention back to a college football career after spending two seasons with the Gators. Coaches can now recruit Kitna to join their program, although he is unlikely to obtain eligibility for the 2023 season as his portal entry did not comply with the NCAA's recently instituted transfer portal windows.

Kitna, the son of former NFL quarterback Jon Kitna, completed 10-of-14 passes for 181 yards and a touchdown in four career appearances with UF.
