Sophomore Florida safety Kamari Wilson on Saturday announced his transfer commitment to Arizona State.
The move comes after Wilson — a native of Fort Pierce, Fla., who joined the Gators from the recruiting class of 2022 — entered the NCAA transfer portal on Dec. 4 following two seasons with the team.
Wilson produced 40 tackles including 1.5 for loss, one forced fumble and one pass breakup over 16 appearances with the Gators. He played in 13 games as a true freshman but only three in 2023, qualifying him for a redshirt this year, meaning he will have three seasons of eligibility to utilize with the Sun Devils.
"My family and I came to the decision for myself to redshirt after the third game this season so that I could retain another season of eligibility," Wilson wrote via social media on Dec. 7, commenting on the situation for the first time. "My decision was not based on any external factors that might have been floated around. I have the [utmost] respect for the Gators coaching staff, I just felt like I need to make a change!"
Wilson is the fifth Florida player to announce a transfer destination this offseason, following quarterback Max Brown (Charlotte), wide receiver Caleb Douglas (Texas Tech), tight end Jonathan Odom (Eastern Michigan) and edge rusher Princely Umanmielen (Ole Miss).
16 members of Florida's 2023 roster have entered the NCAA transfer portal this offseason.
