The Super Bowl and College Football Playoffs are over, each FBS head coach opening has been filled: the offseason has begun.
Just kidding.
Pro and college football began intertwining in January as both leagues gear up for April's NFL Draft, with prospect all-star games coming and going.
Next on the schedule is the NFL Combine, which is taking place this week and is hosting 321 former college players to audition for the selection ceremony in front of pro personnel.
Two Gators, wide receiver Ricky Pearsall and center Kingsley Eguakun, were invited to the event and are expected to participate.
Pearsall, alongside fellow wide receiver, quarterback and running back prospects, will take the field on Saturday, March 2, for workouts. Drills will begin at 1 p.m. ET. Each of these prospect groups took the podium to answer questions from reporters on Friday between 9-10 a.m.
Eguakun and the rest of the offensive line group will perform drills on Sunday, beginning at 1 p.m. Those players will meet with the media on Saturday between 10-11 a.m.
Coverage of the Combine will air on NFL Network.
Pearsall transferred to Florida from Arizona State ahead of the 2022 season and led the Gators in receiving yards over the past two years, with 1,626 in total. He caught 98 passes and nine touchdowns in that span, also rushing for 175 yards and three scores.
The nearly 6-foot-1, 193-pound Pearsall, with outside and slot receiver flexibility, was one of the stars of Senior Bowl practices in January. His routine ability to create separation from defensive backs led to ample recognition from draft media, including a top-of-the-second-round mock draft projection by Pro Football Focus.
Eguakun, a class of 2019 Florida signee, took over as the Gators' starting center in 2021 and occupied the position for 26 consecutive games. He did not allow a single sack in that stretch, per Pro Football Focus.
However, Eguakun's final campaign with the Gators was limited to four appearances due to a nagging high ankle sprain, originally suffered during 2023 fall training camp.
Still, Eguakun was invited to the Senior Bowl alongside Pearsall and made the most of his opportunity, likely elevating his draft stock in the process. The 6-foot-3, 300-pound lineman started at center for the National Team and took the majority of the reps at the position, while the majority of the line rotated frequently.
Gators' best marks in the NFL Combine:
40-Yard Dash: Louis Murphy, 4.32, 2009
Bench Press: Zach Piller, 40, 1999
Vertical Jump: Reche Caldwell, 41.5, 2002
Broad Jump: Kadarius Toney, 136, 2021*
Shuttle: Chris Rainey, 3.93, 2012
3-Cone: Chris Rainey, 6.50, 2012
*Toney's broad jump result tied for the best mark at the 2021 NFL Combine, among all positions
