Florida Among Finalists for 2025 LB Committing Next Week
Buford (Ga.) High class of 2025 linebacker Mantrez Walker named Florida among his top four schools on Friday evening and locked in a commitment date of Feb. 11. Alongside the Gators, Michigan, LSU and Penn State are finalists in Walker's recruitment.
Walker earned his offer from UF during a June 2022 visit to campus, where he began to build a relationship with Gators head coach Billy Napier, linebackers coach Jay Bateman and linebackers analyst Jamar Chaney.
While statistics and rankings aren't available for the 6-foot-1, 215-pound class of 2025 linebacker — MaxPreps credits him for five tackles in 2022, an underreported figure based on his sophomore season film — Walker has been a national recruit dating back to when he received his first Power 5 offer in March 2022, from Arkansas. 17 schools, including another six from the SEC, followed suit.
Florida signed Jaden Robinson in the class of 2023 and welcomed three transfers in Teradja Mitchell (Ohio State), Deuce Spurlock (Michigan) and Mannie Nunnery (Houston) to shore up the Gators' linebacker position entering the offseason.
UF also possesses two linebacker commitments in the class of 2024 from Atlanta (Ga.) Woodward Academy's Myles Graham and Largo (Fla.) High's Adarius Hayes.
