Florida OT Richard Gouraige Among PFF's Top-Graded Senior Bowl Players
Over 100 of the top upperclassmen prospects in the upcoming NFL Draft wore their college helmets one final time in Mobile, Ala. this past Saturday for the Reese's Senior Bowl.
Two Florida Gators, offensive linemen Richard Gouraige and O'Cyrus Torrence, played significantly in the American team's 27-10 loss to the National squad. Gouraige was not only the best offensive lineman on his unit but also one of the top-graded players to take the field for either team, according to Pro Football Focus.
PFF awarded Gouraige an offensive grade of 83.9 out of 100, the highest mark of any player at any position on the American team. Only defensive end Lonnie Phelps (90.5) and guard Jovaughn Gwyn (84.3) of the National team received better overall scores.
Gouraige was credited for giving up just one quarterback pressure and no sacks across his 10 snaps in pass protection, while netting a run-blocking grade of 74.5 on seven such reps. He manned the left tackle position entirely through the week of practices and the game, aside from one practice rep at left guard.
Torrence did not grade out as positively as Gouraige, although his 27 pass-blocking snaps were clear of sacks or pressures allowed. Torrence's run-blocking was atypical of the standard he set at Florida, returning a 53.7 mark. A penalty also dinged Torrence's overall offensive grade, which was finalized at 56.2 despite an 86.6 pass-protection score.
Both linemen are expected to be selected in the 2023 NFL Draft. Torrence has routinely been mocked as a first-round pick, while Gouraige's stock is certainly on the rise following a strong week in Mobile.
