Florida Secures Wisconsin WR Transfer Chimere Dike
Florida has obtained the transfer commitment of Wisconsin wide receiver Chimere Dike, the program announced during the Early Signing Period on Wednesday.
The move will reunite Dike with his quarterback of three years with the Badgers, now-Gators starting signal-caller Graham Mertz.
Dike will join the Gators as a graduate transfer with one season of collegiate eligibility remaining to utilize.
A product of Waukesha (Wis.) North High School, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound Dike signed with Wisconson in the recruiting class of 2020 as a consensus three-star prospect.
He went on to record 97 receptions for 1,478 yards and nine touchdowns over 44 appearances with the Badgers, including 31 starts. He's also rushed 14 times for 99 yards and a score.
For his performance in 2022, in which Dike set single-season career highs in receptions (47), yards (689) and scores (six), Dike was awarded Honorable Mention All-Big Ten honors.
70 of Dike's career receptions, 1,032 of his yards and eight of his receiving touchdowns were produced with Mertz passing him the ball at Wisconsin, from 2020-22.
Dike's addition to Florida's wide receiver room will be much welcomed following the NFL Draft departure of two-year starter Ricky Pearsall and the transfer portal exit of sophomore Caleb Douglas this postseason.
Dike is Florida's fourth acquisition from the transfer portal this postseason, following commitments from San Diego State offensive tackle Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson, former Pennsylvania defensive lineman Joey Slackman and Oregon defensive back Trikweze Bridges.
Blinn College (JUCO) defensive lineman Brien Taylor Jr. also pledged to the Gators on Dec. 11.
Each transfer was made official by Florida on Wednesday.
