An emotional rollercoaster from start to finish.

The Gators defeated Kentucky in Lexington on Saturday. Florida is now 3-0 after another thriller against the Wildcats.

Florida opened the scoring when quarterback Feleipe Franks hit a wide open Freddie Swain to go up 7-0. The next drive, the Wildcats struck right with a score of their own.

Another Kentucky score later, when the Wildcats were up 14-7, both teams went to the locker room and it felt Kentucky had all of the momentum. Gator Twitter was imploding, as it really felt like the Wildcats might take two in a row against UF.

Later in half No. 2, Kentucky was winning 21-10. To make matters worse for Florida, quarterback Feleipe Franks dove for a first down and dislocated his ankle. The diagnosis is still developing, but Franks could be done for the season.

Weirdly, that’s when everything changed.

Redshirt junior Kyle Trask stepped in and was brilliant. His first drive in the game, he was essentially tackled on a speed option in the red zone until he barely got it off to Lamical Perine who strutted into the end zone to make the game one possession.

A Shawn Davis interception and a three-and-out later, Trask was back in the end zone on a 6-yard run, two unsuccessful 2-point conversions meant that the Gators were up 22-21.

Kentucky’s kicker, Chance Poore, lived up to his ironic name and whiffed a go-ahead field goal to put the Wildcats ahead. Florida took over and put the Wildcats to death officially, when a Josh Hammond jet sweep on third down resulted in a long touchdown and won UF the game 29-21.
