Florida DE/OLB Jeremiah Moon Ruled Out for Remainder of the 2019 Season
Another week, another Florida pass rusher down with an injury.
Defensive end/linebacker Jeremiah Moon has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2019 season, head coach Dan Mullen stated during his weekly radio show. Mullen told the media on Monday that Moon suffered a foot injury in the Gators' 24-17 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs this past Saturday in Jacksonville.
Moon has been a productive pass rusher for Florida, used in a rotation as the team's third edge rusher when the unit was healthy and starting in place of Jonathan Greenard when Greenard was dealing with an ankle injury. During his redshirt junior campaign, the 6-6, 228 lb. posted three sacks, 6.5 tackles for loss, 20 quarterback pressures, two defended passes, and a fumble recovery.
Florida has suffered from plenty of injuries to their pass rush this season, and still found a way to be productive. Despite seeing Greenard miss nearly two full games, Jabari Zuniga miss four, and now ruling Moon out for the season, it's quite the feat that the Gators lead the SEC with 29 sacks.
True freshmen Khris Bogle and Mohamoud Diabate will be expected to fill in for Moon during Florida's three remaining regular season games and bowl game. The two have combined for two sacks, 2.5 tackles for loss, and 14 QB pressures this season.
