Kadarius Toney won't return for Gators this week, and other injury updates
While the Florida Gators are inching towards better health before their homecoming game against Auburn on October 5th, they aren't there yet. Head coach Dan Mullen confirmed hey'll be without an explosive playmaker for the third consecutive week in Kadarius Toney.
Toney, who injured his shoulder against UT-Martin in Week 2, will miss Florida's match against Towson, who is ranked 10th in the FCS.
This obviously won't be as crucial a game for players to return for, unlike Auburn or LSU on October 12th, but Florida could always utilize the burst that Toney provides. He provided an early spark on a 66-yard touchdown vs. Miami on the team's first drive. Florida went on to beat Miami by a score of 24-20.
As for other injuries, Mullen confirmed that quarterback Feleipe Franks had successful ankle surgery this morning, stating that it "went very well". The two have yet to talk since the operation, but Mullen plans to check in on him tonight.
As for cornerback C.J. Henderson and defensive end Jabari Zuniga, both will be game-time decisions against Towson. Neither should be practicing much this week - Mullen is confident that their experience as veterans allows them to miss practice and still play.
