Florida LB Commit Shuts Down Recruitment
Largo (Fla.) High linebacker Adarius Hayes confirmed his commitment to Florida on Friday evening while attending the Gators’ Friday Night Lights recruiting event in Gainesville.
Hayes reaffirmed his pledge in the wake of a June 17 unofficial visit to Miami, which followed his June 9-11 official trip to UF.
Although Miami snuck into Hayes recruitment and prompted a scare, Hayes expressed the week before his trek to Coral Gables that Florida is his “dream school” and that his family became convinced the Gators were the team for him during the UF official visit.
"It was a great weekend for them, getting to experience what the Florida Gators are all about," Hayes told All Gators. "We can head back home now but they really don't want to leave, they want to stay up here."
Learn more about Hayes’ skill set in his All Gators biography below.
While [Myles] Graham is slated to play on the weak side, the long-limbed Hayes is viewed as a middle linebacker with edge-rushing potential in sub-packages given his build and athleticism. He's produced a whopping 281 total tackles, at least three sacks, 35 tackles for loss, at least one interception, eight defended passes and six forced fumbles in three seasons for Largo. Hayes' HUDL film signals that his sack and interception counts are underreported.
