Good news continues to elongate Florida's stretch of dominance on the recruiting trail.

In the wake of seven class of 2024 commitments since Saturday, a pair of already-existing pledges to the Gators — safeties Xavier Filsaime and Josiah Davis — announced Monday evening that they are shutting down their recruitments "100%."

Witnessing a run on defensive additions specifically — edge rusher Jamonta Waller, defensive linemen Amaris Williams, Nasir Johnson and Michai Boireau, and linebacker Aaron Chiles to the haul — Filsaime and Davis reaffirmed their loyalty to Florida, effectively stating their belief in the roster-building efforts of defensive coordinator Austin Armstrong and head coach Billy Napier.

The duo of defensive backs committed to Florida themselves during the spring, first Davis on March 27 then Filsaime on April 13. Both were immediately prioritized by UF secondary Corey Raymond when the page turned to the 2024 recruiting cycle from 2023.

Filsaime, of McKinney (Texas) High, is regarded as the No. 2 safety in the class of 2024 and a consensus five-star prospect by the 247Sports composite rankings. Davis, from Nashville (Ga.) Berrien, is considered the No. 51 safety in the cycle.

Learn more about each Florida safety commitment from their All Gators biographies below.

Xavier Filsaime: An elite track athlete with a personal best of 10.52 seconds in the 100-meter dash, Filsaime translates his speed to the gridiron as one of the top safety prospects in his class. Formerly a wide receiver, Filsaime moved to the secondary as a junior and immediately made a name for himself with 92 tackles, three pass breakups and three fumbles forced in 13 games. Although he did not post an interception in year one at the position, ball skills are on his résumé from his time as a pass-catcher and should not be of concern. Filsaime's athleticism will also lead to special teams contributions early in his collegiate career.

Josiah Davis: The high-potential piece in the backend. An all-around athlete at Berrien High School, Davis has flashed dynamic playmaking abilities — accounting for 23 touchdowns as a junior to pair with 70 tackles, one sack and one interception defensively. Davis is a natural athlete with the ability to contribute in all three phases at the next level if the program elects to do so. At Florida, he’ll occupy time on special teams as a gunner and/or return man while being developed for an eventual starting role at safety. There, he can use his instinctual talent to hunt the ball through the air and on the ground.
