Florida Gators Land Commitment From 2021 Safety Donovan McMillon

The Florida Gators have now hauled in several commitments from some of the top defensive backs in the nation over the past week, adding Donovan McMillon to the group.

The Florida Gators just landed a big-time commitment from Canonsburg (Pa.) native, Donovan McMillon, he announced on Instagram.

McMillon, a 2021 Sports Illustrated All-American candidate, currently attends Peters Township High School and is entering his senior season as a part of the class of 2021. Among those listed in his final "fantastic" five released just a few weeks ago were, Florida, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma, Oregon and Texas A&M.

Below, you can find a quick analysis of McMillon's game from his evaluation at Sports Illustrated All-American.

McMillon is a well-polished safety who is more suited to play in the box or on the edge as a hybrid defender as he is most valuable in run support. His filled-out frame and reliability as a tackler make him a true asset in that aspect. He displays ball skills down the field but is stiff at times, which could cause issues at the college level. McMillon projects as a multi-year starter at a major Power 5 level.

McMillon recently stopped by the Florida campus on June 13th, a day before his birthday, to take an unofficial visit of the University, seeing the sites and sounds of what he is to expect when it's time for him to eventually join his future teammates on campus.

At 6-foot-2, 193 pounds, McMillon possess the size needed to become a contributor at safety down the road, showing off his versatility in coverage along with his run-stopping prowess, it's no wonder why the Gators made him a priority earlier this year, extending him an offer on April 18th, led by Gators safeties coach Ron English.

Along with McMillon, the Gators landed a trio of defensive back commitments in Kamar Wilcoxson, Dakota Mitchell and Jordan Young last month, and with the loss of cornerback Clinton Burton Jr. to Boston College on Friday, the Gators are now up to a total of four. Young and Wilcoxson are expected to play cornerback, while McMillon and Mitchell could play both safety and even STAR nickel cornerback.

While the Gators have landed several defensive backs now, expect them to continue their pursuit of a couple of high-profile players such as Miami Palmetto (Fla.) cornerback Jason Marshall Jr. and safety Corey Collier Jr., Westlake (Ga.) cornerback Nathaniel Wiggins, John Paul II Catholic safety (Fla.) Terrion Arnold and others. With four safeties set to graduate this year and the potential for cornerback Marco Wilson to depart for the NFL, the Gators are expected to load up in the secondary.

You can check out McMillon's film in the video above, and welcome him into UF's class by following him on Twitter here.
