Florida Gators Land Commitment From 2021 Wide Receiver Marcus Burke

Only a couple days after landing a commitment from a highly sought-after safety, Florida flips to the other side of the football landing a wide receiver Marcus Burke from Jacksonville (Fla.)

Announced on Twitter today, the Gators have landed a verbal commitment from intriguing 6-foot-3, 180-pound wide receiver, Marcus Burke out of Trinity Christian Academy (Jacksonville, Fla), choosing the Gators over Georgia and Penn State.

Burke first received an offer from the Gators in September of 2019 and received a total of 21 offers from all around the nation.

After visiting the Gators on their final junior day of the offseason (March 7th), Burke placed the Gators in his top five teams - Florida, Georgia, Penn State, Miami, and Georgia Tech -, making certain they were square on his radar for the foreseeable future.

Thus far in their 2021 recruiting class, the Gators have landed three other receivers by way of verbal commitments in wide receivers Daejon ReynoldsTrevonte Rucker, and Charles Montgomery. Now, Burke, a Sports Illustrated All-American candidate, has put his name in the hat, bringing another high-profile receiver to Gainesville (Fla.) in 2021.

Below, you can find a quick analysis of Burkes's game from his evaluation at Sports Illustrated All-American.

Burke could end up being a college No. 1 wide receiver once he matures physically. He provides speed, really good short-area playmaking skills, knows how to stem his pass routes, displays playmaking skills during one-on-one situations and makes defenders miss.

The Gators are doing well to load up on wide receivers for the 2021 season and beyond as they lost four receivers to the NFL Draft earlier this year and are expected to lose at least three more (Trevon Grimes, Kadarius Toney and Rick Wells) as they will be graduating following this season.

Now with four wide receivers in the class, to go with two tight ends, expect the Gators to ease their pursuit more pass catchers in the 2021 cycle. Each commit offers a different skill-set than the others, creating plenty of balance and long-term depth for Florida at the wide receiver position.
