OL Jake Guarnera Includes Gators in Top 5, Schedules Commitment Date
Gators offensive line target Jake Guarnera released his top five schools Tuesday morning, naming Florida in the mix alongside Michigan, NC State, Rutgers and Penn State.
The Ponte Vedra (Fla.) High School prospect will announce his commitment on April 28 at 5 p.m. EST.
Standing at 6-foot-3.5, 290 pounds, the talented lineman has drawn interest for his agility and power on the front lines during his time at the prep level.
With mutual interest extended between him and UF, the local prospect has had an opportunity to build a strong rapport with the Florida coaching staff over the last year. He's taken eight unofficial visits since April 14, 2022, and is scheduled to attend campus for an official visit on June 24.
Despite being an offensive tackle in high school, Guarnera projects to scoot inside into an interior OL spot at the next level. Gators offensive line coaches Rob Sale and Darnell Stapleton shared that plan with him during a trip to Gainesville in January.
"Just, obviously, my measurables aren't on par with where a tackle would be. So, you know, they see me moving down to center. They want someone that's intelligent, and can be powerful through their feet in that area," he shared with All Gators after an extensive film session with the coaches on his Jan. 14 visit.
Guarenera will take just over two weeks to pinpoint his collegiate destination — if he hasn't already. If it is the Gators, he would join a surging 2024 class for the program while becoming the first member of the offensive trenches, a position of need for UF moving forward.
The race for his services is presumably between his home state team and the reigning Big 10 Champion Michigan Wolverines.
