Gators QB Pledge DJ Lagway Commits to UA All-America Game in Orlando
Florida Gators quarterback commit DJ Lagway witnessed an eventful afternoon on Tuesday.
Not only did the Gators future passer hear his name called to participate in the Elite 11 Finals, set take place this summer in Los Angeles, but he committed to a postseason bowl game featuring top recruits around the nation by pledging himself to the Under Armor All-America contest.
He will represent UF in Orlando during the week of New Year’s Day as a result.
“Catch me and [Willis High head coach Trent Miller] in ORLANDO,” Lagway said in his Twitter announcement. “COMMITTED.”
The move comes somewhat as a surprise given his presence at the Army All-American game in San Antonio (Texas) last January, where Lagway notably cheered on Florida offensive tackle signee Caden Jones as he committed to the Gators during the event.
However, his allegiance to the Florida-based event gives the Willis (Texas) talent the opportunity to compete in the Sunshine State for the first time before beginning his collegiate career in Gainesville.
Lagway, an uber-talented signal caller with the intangibles necessary to excel at the collegiate level, serves as the face of Florida’s crucial 2024 recruiting class and a major asset in the team’s current talent acquisition endeavors.
He’s garnered significant praise as a result, labeled as the one-piece fix to the program’s woes of late once he steps into the starting quarterback spot.
He’ll get the opportunity to showcase those attributes in Orlando alongside what the Gators hope to be several other top-tier UF recruits at that stage.
