Gators 2025 Edge Rusher Target Sets Commitment Date
In six days, the nation's No. 12 edge rusher and No. 123 overall player in the 2025 class will be coming off the board.
On Monday, Highland Home (Ala.) prospect Jakaleb Faulk shared Aug. 21 as his commitment date via Twitter. He will choose from the top five of Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida and Georgia.
In Mike Peterson's search for a JACK edge rusher in the 2025 class, the 6-foot-3, 225-pound Faulk is a legitimate target. And, to this point, Faulk's reciprocated the team's evident interest in him.
Taking three trips to Gainesville since Billy Napier and his staff took over in December 2021, the Yellowhammer State product has built a strong knowledge of what the Gators program offers. When he included Florida as one of the five prospective programs remaining in contention for his services in early July, Faulk pointed to his connection with the coaches as a potent selling point.
"I've been liking Florida ever since they offered me," Faulk told Jeremy Johnson of On3 Sports.
"The people down there are cool, chill and they kept it straight with you. The environment and where they are, it's a great place to be. The staff up there is great. I love the staff over there. I have a good relationship with a couple of people over there."
Currently, Faulk is trending toward teaming up with his brother, Kendric Faulk, at Auburn for his collegiate career. However, given his highly regarded standing, the other four programs within his load top five — including Florida — will make a concerted push down the stretch.
The Gators have yet to land a commitment in the 2025 cycle. Can Faulk be the first?
