Miami has flipped the commitment of long-time Florida linebacker pledge and class of 2024 Largo (Fla.) High product Adarius Hayes on Early National Signing Day.

He's officially signed with the Hurricanes.

Hayes had been committed to Florida since Jan. 28, but Miami blipped onto his recruitment radar over the summer by hosting Hayes on an unofficial visit on June 17.

At the time, the four-star second-level defender suggested UF fans had nothing to fear relative to his commitment.

"My recruitment is officially shut down," Hayes wrote via Twitter in June while attending Florida's Friday Night Lights recruiting event, one week after his trip to Coral Gables.

But Hayes continued to flirt with the Hurricanes while saying the right thing about the Gators. He returned to South Florida in October to witness Miami's last-second loss to Georgia Tech, and Hayes visited the school officially Dec. 15-17, just before the class of 2024 early signing period.

The multi-day trek to Coral Gables helped pull off the last-second flip from UF to UM at the end of his recruitment process.

Hayes is considered to be the No. 7 linebacker and No. 69 overall prospect in the class of 2024 by the 247Sports composite rankings. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound linebacker has been credited with making 389 tackles including 38 for loss, four sacks, two interceptions, nine defended passes and six forced fumbles over four varsity seasons with Largo, per MaxPreps.

Hayes' exit from the class marks Florida's fifth flipped commitment since November. He follows edge rusher Jamonta Waller (Auburn), cornerback Wardell Mack (Texas), defensive linemen Nasir Johnson (Georgia), Kendall Jackson (Miami) and safety Xavier Filsaime in departing from the Gators' haul of 2024 prospects in that span.

Florida maintains two pledges at Hayes' linebacker position, however, from Gators' legacy prospect Myles Graham of Gainesville (Fla.) Buchholz and Aaron Chiles of Olney (Md.) Our Lady Good Counsel.
