TE Amir Jackson Commits to the Florida Gators
Portal (Ga.) High 2024 tight end Amir Jackson committed to the Gators during his official visit to Florida on Saturday, he announced.
In an effort to rebuild its future tight end room, Florida has prioritized Jackson among the numerous players at his position in the class of 2024 and reaped the benefits of those recruiting efforts on Saturday afternoon.
The Gators were one of the first Power 5 programs to extend Jackson a scholarship offer, on Jan. 28. Schools such as Florida State, Georgia, Tennessee, Auburn and Alabama followed suit throughout the spring.
As his college interest began to surge, Florida earned two unofficial visits from Jackson and became the first program to host him officially, allowing him to form a strong relationship with newly-promoted UF tight ends coach Russ Callaway. Jackson shut his recruitment down before the conclusion of his three-day stay in Gainesville.
Jackson, 6-foot-4, 223 pounds, is considered the No. 8 athlete and No. 108 overall prospect in the class of 2024 by the 247Ssports composite rankings.
In two varsity seasons between 2021-22, Jackson hauled in 42 receptions for 710 yards and five touchdowns, rushed 33 times for 188 yards and a touchdown, and accumulated 94 tackles, one sack, one interception, three forced fumbles and four pass breakups defensively.
Jackson represents Florida's first tight end commitment in the class of 2024 and since the class of 2022, although the Gators added Tony Livingston to the roster at the position this offseason on a grayshirt.
Jackson and Tampa (Fla.) Carrollwood Day wide receiver Izaiah Williams comprise UF's current group of pass-catcher pledges in the 2024 cycle.
