TE Amir Jackson Signs With the Gators
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Gators tight end pledge Amir Jackson made his six-month commitment to the school official on Wednesday as he signed his name on the National Letter of Intent to Florida.
He ranks as the No. 8 tight end and No. 87 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class by the 247Sports composite rankings.
A prototypical H-type tight end prospect, possessing high-level athleticism and a wide catch radius, Jackson can present mismatches via the passing game from any spot he aligns in the Gators' offense in the future.
He proved efficient in that role for Portal (Ga.) High School as a senior, accounting for 44 receptions, 727 yards and 12 touchdowns on the year. It was the most productive campaign of his prep career.
His versatility to receive snaps outside, in the slot or as a traditional in-line tight end can be likened to that of former Gators tight end Kyle Pitts, although Pitts’ production in that role is unparalleled to tight ends in college football in recent memory.
Accordingly, Billy Napier and Co. made considerable efforts to obtain his services when he was on the free market.
Jackson is the lone tight end to join Russ Callaway’s room in the 2024 cycle. He’s expected to enroll at the University of Florida in the summer.

The Gators were one of the first Power 5 programs to extend Jackson a scholarship offer, on Jan. 28, and schools such as Florida State, Georgia, Tennessee, Auburn and Alabama followed suit throughout the spring. A versatile talent for Portal, Jackson produced 86 receptions for 1,437 yards and 17 touchdowns, rushed 46 times for 388 yards and five touchdowns, and accumulated 151 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions, seven forced fumbles and four pass breakups defensively over three varsity seasons. On the basketball court, Jackson has averaged a double-double per game since his freshman year. He'll catch passes in UF's offense at tight end.
